In this day and age, one cannot get through daily life without acquiring some sort of stress and pain. Massage is the perfect remedy to the physical not to mention the emotional, mental, and spiritual imbalances. Take an hour or two to really take care of yourself and clear your mind.

"Massage that lets you feel human again".

Your body is your own personal temple, it should be precious to you. Massage can heal you in ways a pill or other medical means can't by treating you as a whole person and not just focus on the problem. Massage has the power to remind your body it is perfectly capable of healing itself. Each session is customized to what your body and mind needs that day, so lots of communication is helpful.

So, I would like to know who's planning on coming over for the work party tomorrow afternoon ....

We have the option of being at my new digs in Los Altos Hills or at Casa Betlo (Gerry and Lara's place, ne Gerry and my place), but it depends on
(a) how many folks are coming
(b) what kind of work we want to get done (planning, building, sewing, etc.)

Casa Betlo has a table saw and a fair number of tools
The Hill (my new place) has LOTS of work space and a pool for cooling & goofing off

I must confess I'm not as prepared as I hoped (so it goes in the time of new job and new housing), but would love for people to gather and do some planning / light building anyhow.

So ... who's gonna be here?

Announcing, the Black Rock Beacon, Volume III.

Yes, Burners, we’re coming back for our third year, bringing news, views and pork-related trivia to Black Rock City. The Black Rock Beacon is an independent daily newspaper and an associated website ( www. blackrockbeacon.org ) written by and for the Burning Man community.

Our 2006 (and 2005) archives are on-line, check them out at

bitethe.com/brb/archive.htm

We’re planning five or six issues for this year, with several thousand copies of each. What will determine how many days and how many copies is YOU, fellow Burners.

If you like the Beacon and want to help keep us going, we could use your small but heartfelt donations. To make it interesting -- and Playa-y -- we’re raffling off a one-year membership in the Bacon of the Month club. Each month, starting in October, the winner will get a pound of bacon from a different artisanal producer. There’s also a t-shirt, a pen (it’s a pig-pen), and an adorable little pig eraser. We’ll hold a drawing on the Playa, if the response is overwhelming before the start of August, we’ll add a second prize so that your odds of winning will never be less than 1.5%. Bacon of the Month Club will only ship to the United States, but it makes a great gift to your American friends if you live overseas (or are a vegan).

Donations must be in multiples of $10. The raffle runs through August 22. See our web page at

bitethe.com/brb/donate.htm

for details. All money raised will go to increasing the number of copies we print each day and possibly publishing on additional days.

Thanks for your support! We look forward to serving Black Rock City in 2007 and for many years to come.

Each year over 40,000 people travel to Black Rock City in the Nevada desert to participate in an experience that is wholly unlike any found in modern society. For one week in late August they become part of an experimental temporary community, one which challenges its members to express themselves and rely on themselves to a degree that is not normally encountered in day-to-day life. The result of this experiment is Black Rock City, home to the Burning Man event. (http://www.burningman.com)

The Burning Man Film Festival is an amazing collection of work in the spirit of the radical self-expression of Burning Man. The films and shorts included in this festival pan several years of the event, starting in 1991 through 2003. Special guest Andie Grace (actiongrl@buringman.com), Burning Man’s Communications Manager and Regional Network Manager will be our MC, and will be on hand to speak about the past, present and future of Burning Man.

6:15 PM – Doors open

6:30 PM – One Minute to Burn – by Bad Dog Films (2001)
This cinematic buffet of Burning Man highlights is comprised of 51 short videos, each capturing a moment of random creativity and spontaneity that make Burning Man so vibrant. This Festival Version contains 21 minutes of segments, each only around one minute long. Atmospheric and experimental, each segment is filmed and directed with a different technique.

6:50 - 7:00 – Introduction by Andie Grace

7:00 – 7:30 – Burning Man 1991 – by Larry Harvey (1991)
Larry Harvey accounts the journey from Baker Beach to Black Rock - A dried lake bed encircled by a mountain range, sitting undisturbed for the last 30,000 years, and staging ground-zero for a soon-to-develop cultural movement. A glimpse of the earliest days of Burning Man including some of the first acts of gifting and creativity – watch the Man being raised by a rope tugged by 80 people and see the roots of a worldwide phenomenon take hold.

7:30 – 7:45 – Intermission

7:45 – 9:30 – Beyond Black Rock - by Mike Wilson and Damon Brown (2003)
This first-ever authorized documentary goes behind the scenes for an authentic peek at the inner workings of Burning Man - from the inside out. Beyond Black Rock explores the philosophy that fuels this unique social revolution, and the tireless organizers, artists and participants who create and nurture a worldwide cultural force. Features artists David Best, Bob “Wizzard” Marziewski, and Rafael Santiago, as well as many great theme camps and performers and Burning Man’s staff and volunteers.

9:30 – 9:45 – Closing comments by Andie Grace – Where Burning Man is now, and the future of Burning Man (Regional Network, Greening the Man, Burners Without Borders, and more!)

For various reasons I’ve opted to build it around an offroad gokart, which makes it compact, which means it can be done by one or two people, as my shop seems to be located in an area where volunteers are scarce!
In keeping with the "hope and fear" theme of this year’s Burning Man a pal suggested that, once I've finished my little rolling pirate ship (photos at www.nmpproducts.com/artcar.htm ) I could further conceal the lower automotive bits by wrapping them with a sea monster, whose tentacles would appear to be emerging from an EL wire "sea" beneath the craft and reaching towards the upper deck.
Soooo I need to think how-to-build-tentacle thoughts. I can't sew, but I can work wood, foam, fiberglas and metal pretty well. Ideally I'm searching for a few volunteers who live in or around Santa Rosa, CA, with expertise in my voids, so to speak, to help me build something like a stuffed animal, but sea monsterish and maybe 15 to 20ft long. Any takers? I'm willing to pay for all materials, but I’d prefer to swap labor for labor: I’m a machinist by trade and I’ve got a passing knowledge of welding, woodworking and a few other things. Any takers?

Hi folks!

I believe it's time we bust out the camping gear and head up to the mountains for a weekend party. I'm trying to put together a gathering over the Memorial day weekend in the Black Rock Forest. We can have a BIG fire, we can spin fire, we can swim in the lake, fish, hike... whatever one might do in the forest.

I know a few of you are familiar with the BRF, but let me 'splain it for the rest of ya. A burner friend of ours - Patrick - happens to own about 20 or 30 acres of forest land in Pollock Pines (that's about half-way between Sacramento and S Lake Tahoe on hwy 50). Patrick's land is just up the hill from the Sly Park recreation area on Jenkinson Lake. He has been working the land and making big flat clearings among the trees for the last couple summers so that us fellow burners might have a mountain refuge to have burner-type gatherings. Well, it's in great shape and ready for us to go play! There's room for at least 100 of us to set up camp and art and music and whatever other ideas we come up with. There's plenty of fire-wood, an outhouse, a solar powered fresh water well, and even a chicken coup which - with a little luck - will supply a few of us with fresh eggs for breakfast. I'm hoping to get power up there for lights and maybe a DJ set up... at the very least I'll set up the playa stereo from the Iron Rose Juke Joint on the playa last year.

Our intention is for this to be a family friendly gathering. So bring the kids! We are actually using this opportunity to celebrate our Lizzi's 13th Birthday (YAY!).

So whatta y'all think? Can you make it? good idea? Let me know and we'll build the plans together.

More info to come... Or as soon as somebody asks.

Subject tribe.net listing: Some good uses for these 55 Gallon Steel Barrels (besides just getting me & the Liquid Latex Lounge to Burning Man in 2006)
Message --------------Listing Contents--------------

Inspired this weekend by the Maker Faire (MakerFaire.com)? need to build something practical... quickly?

I have another batch (14 qty) clean 55-gallon steel barrels (drums) available.
They have removable lids (with secure mounting clamps), rubber lid gaskets, and are air tight.
They were originally used to store/transport Deviant Liquid Latex (www.DeviantLatex.com) and are completely clean inside and out. Also have a 55-gal fiber/composite barrel and a cardboard/paper fiber barrel.

If I could get $20 each, I could afford to buy my Burning Man ticket and 1/2 tank of gas to produce the Liquid Latex Lounge again this year (which I wasn't able to do in 2005). If I could get $15 each, I could almost afford to buy my Burning man ticket and some water. $10 would be a good atart, and I might be able to buy some water, cheap beer, and sometthing to kill my appetite for a week.. If you have no money (like me), but still want a barrel, I probably wouldn't say no, unless you were 1) lying, 2) using them to make a profit, or 3) breeding two barrels to bake more barrels.

Some great uses include:
Burn barrels, BBQ pits; water storage or transport; food storage; garbage cans; tallow storage; air- & water-tight product storage; making huge pickles; beer making; floating pontoons; mixing wierd concoctions; water-filled tie-down ballasts for camopies or tents or airplanes or Macy's Thanksgiving Day Balloon floats; preparing for "the big one"; special effects; vacation domicile for the Cookie Monster; set of very large shot glasses; planters; giant anaconda nesting; crab traps; huge ice trays (recommend set of 6); storing illegal toxic waste; time capsules; time travel; storing Time Magazines; target practice; flag pole statnds; satellite stands, musical steel drums; starting your own neighborhood production of "Stomp"; vertical Koi ponds; hiding the evidence; log rolling practice; worm farms; rotating compost bins; playground tunnels; farm feed troughs; covert subterranian border crossing; shop vac cannisters; dipping your friends in Deviant Liquid Latex.

Barrels are located in central/downtown San Jose. Delivery available for a fee or for gas money and an 8-pack of Guinness.
Call Six at 408.971.6366.
It's finally time for us Panda rejects to throw another party. And recently it has come to our attention that one of our fellow panda's has been having a difficult time with the IRS. So we decided to get together and throw another kick-ass party, but this time make it a benefit for our poor little panda in need. And what better day to do this than to do it on tax day. So here we go again, Panda vs Monkey this time.

We will also be giving out a mp3 cd compilation of the panda dj's to the best dressed pandas and monkeys for the night. We will be selling these cd's @ the door for only $10 to help raise a little bit more money for those of you that don't feel the urge to dress up. The disc will have 5+ hours of music with a complete set from each of the panda dj's, and it is very limited edition.

We also wanted to thank all the dj's for donating their time for a good cause, and we would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting the show in advance. Because we know you will, you can't resist us cause we're cute and fuzzy.

Calling all 'Rosers, one of the sickest, most insanely freaky, burning man like party to hit SF is coming up this Friday. Its called GET FREAKY (happens about twice a year). It has some of the most cutting edge electronic music, circus freaks, burning man type atmosphere, and all out madness. I keep posting events, but this one is the sh*t for real, and Ariella and I go to a lot of parties, and this one is one of the best if not the best in the SF BM party scene. We DON'T miss a GET FREAKY party, and you shouldn't either. Alright, here's the deets...

Its been a while coming
GET FREAKY FRIDAY MARCH 31ST (MIDNIGHT IS APRIL 1ST)
The insane lineup we have put together..

Stanton Warriors - UK
If you havent heard their music you are in for a treat, and you probally been in the mountains hiding. Their music is on the forefront in what is happening to breaks. Dom B. will be hitting the decks with his signature breaks sound a bit funky. sometimes dubby, but always on fire. I got the pleasure of playing after him at Shambhala last summer and he had the forrest jumping.
Lee Coombs - Thrust UK
After his stellar set at Raindance, i had to have him play a Get freaky.
Lorin - The undisputed king of Bass, A get freaky wouldn't be the same without him.
Heavywight dub champion - speical closing set - we will close all the rooms at the end and gather together for a perfect send home vibe, together in DUB.
KLUTE [COMMERCIAL SUICIDE/METALHEADZ/BBS, UK]
Tom Withers, aka Klute, has been a fixture on the Drum and Bass scene for over ten years, lending his creativity to the likes of Metalheadz, 31 Records, Hospital Records and his early stable Certificate 18, responsible for releasing his first two albums, "Casual Bodies" and "Fear of People". In 2001 his own Commercial Suicide imprint was borne out of a necessity on Klute's part to control his own releases as well as provide a support network for the ever increasing new generation of like minded producers. So far the label has seen releases by Klute himself, Calibre, Total Science, Digital, and D.Kay. Previous to this much lauded and rebellious electronic career, Klute fronted legendary Skate-Punk outfit, 'The Stupids', an apt schooling for a producer with this unique level of eclecticism.
AMIT - [COMMERCIAL SUICIDE/METALHEADZ, UK]
*LIVE PA PERFORMANCE* *U.S. DEBUT*
HTTP://WWW.COMMERCIALSUICIDE.ORG

His music (influenced heavily by asian and middle-eastern sounds as well us dub reggae, electro, acid-house and techno) has seen releases on distinguished labels such as Metalheadz, Timeless, Function, Inneractive and Commercial Suicide. Touring in support of his forthcoming album, "Never Ending" on Commercial Suicide, Amit's performance will be a live PA
Now is the time and here is your chance.
An evening of yarn hairfall and wool dread creation with Iron Rose camp!
Bright Green Dreads. Colorful Seaside Hairfalls. Harlot Red Dreadheads.
It's Simply Dreadful!!

6pm,
April 19th, Wednesday in Redwood City with Iron Rose campers.
Heidi of Iron Rose will teach you to make wool dreadfalls or yarn hairfalls to take and wear.

Puppy dog.
Full Head.
Hair band.
Clip in.
Knot'n Bungie.

All styles demonstrated including how to choose colors, attachment methods and how to wear them successfully.
Limited to 8 people, so you'll get plenty of personal attention.
$5 odds-n-ends materials fee.

Rsvp to: Heidi@dykema.net with your name and if you want to make a yarn hairfall OR a wool dread set. (A rsvp anywhere else will NOT save you a spot!)
Please choose only ONE style: Yarn Hairfall OR Wool Dreads

Yarn Hairfall:
http://www.dykema.net/ironrose/Images/bling/bling17.jpg
Expenses: $40-$50 (at the store) to make a very full and butt-length hairfall as seen in image. If two people want the same color hairfall and can agree in advance, they may register as ONE person for the workshop, choose yarn together and work together, splitting two-shoulder-length full-head hairfalls between them. Or, make a shoulder-length hairfall for yourself and lots of clip-ins to gift to others!
All hairfall rsvp'd people MUST come on a pre-workshop shopping expedition to choose yarn. Yarn selection determines the quality of the hairfall, so it's important! (and it confirms your spot in the workshop.)

Wool Dreads:
http://people.tribe.net/12795f7f-2d6a-48cf-84b1-a0ce119a431b/photos/81b0fc1a-cfae-4179-9cda-8616544f3135
Expenses: $20 (online ordering) to make a shoulder length full-head hairfall in one, two or three colors. Or, create Puppy dogs or Knot'n Bungies with some clip-ins for gifting.
All rsvp'd Wool Dread people must order online and have delivered TO MY ADDRESS their chosen color wool supplies at least two weeks before class. You will be emailed the best place to order. Receipt of your supplies at my house, confirms your spot in the workshop. Heidi will air the wool out so fixitives are gone by workshop. Rsvp'd people can discuss colors and quantities with Heidi.

Brightly colored hair for dancing, and back to normal in time for mundane life.
It's Simply Dreadful.

CONGRATULATIONS!! I haven't seen any photos of the near completed Sue but I have lurked watching this whole time and trust me when I say it has been a pleasure. I won't be a BM this year but when I first hear of your endeavor I joined your group. I live in Texas so I wasn't able to help out, although I would have loved to . I remember when the steel pipe first arrived and the realization of how in the hell were you going to mash, bend and create with all of this freaking pipe was the overwhelming factor. Anyhow the chess board is lovely and I can picture the astro turf, and picket fences in my mind, (the next part is very sexist but bare with me). The pics of you ladies slicing and smashing cold steel is freeking HOT. In fact your all HOT. I can picture all of you now driving accross the playa from the distance like a mirage with heat waves rising from your image, stopping just mere inches from me standing alone in the desert as you all step off I would bow to you and you would graciously return the bow. I would give you the greatest standing ovation ever given by one man.

2 Cans of Zinsser B*I*N primer/sealer. It is great for wood but works for metal, ceramic, glass, glossy surfaces, etc. It is a good primer for hiding oily stains in wood too.

2 Cans of Rust-oleum Paniter's Touch sandable primer. Also a general purpose primer for wood or metal.

1 can, maybe 2 of Rust-oleum plastic primer. Designed for plastic but don't use on PVC, it won't stick. (For PVC use Krylon Fusion).

2 cans each of Rust-oleum paint for plastic. Black and white.

I am doing a project this year that required painting on PVC and it took me a while to find the right primer to use on it. The stuff I decided not to use, I am putting up for grabs. A good paint job starts with a good primer.

I also plan to have some fluorescent paints of various colors left over. These are all Krylon and work best applied over a white primer base. I have red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and a magenta-ish color in the fluorescent but don't know exactly how much of what colors I am going to have left because the primer is still curing on some pieces and I haven't built the rest yet.

My bike's already tricked out and, well, here - although I may be going to Mikes to dance some biscuits off... So I'm going to work on Sue the Art Car Saturday the 9th from 10am to 1pm. You're welcome to come and play along!

Yep, three hours of thrilling grinding, wire brushing, priming and (maybe) some metal cutting. If we're feeling particularly crafty, we might figure how to close off the back-end - removably. I have the steel, the welder and the acy/oxy. Hmmn, a brain-teaser?

We won't be patching yet (I'm waiting to cut some steel from a friend's extra trash-buses.) If you want to patch, then wait a little while. If you really want to play destructo, let me know and I'll invite you when I go up to slice and dice the buses. I'll be detaching steering wheels, scamming a nice bus seat with integral seat belt - and maybe an intact windshield, if there is one, anyway. Etc, etc.

Learn the secrets behind the Magical Red Shoes! Put some Ooo-la-la in your Ooompha! You'd never believe how easy it can be! Blondie is your Playa Fashionista, Kip your gracious hostess-with-the-mostest, and Heidi your convoy camel boy.

What to Bring: Things to decorate: Your tired, your weary, your yearning to be sparkly shoes, boots, corsets, bustiers, parasols, umbrellas (wanna-be parasols) hats, bras, undies, skirts, shirts, whatever... With a long pole, a holiday ornament and some sparkly ribbon, you can create a staff to accessorize your outfits. Add some lights to it, and turn heads as you strut the playa.

Things to decorate with: Bring your parts and pieces, your gemstones, your beads, chains, mirror sequins, fringe, beaded trim, coconuts, whatever. Bring your single earrings, or pairs that you never wear, as they make for great adornments. Have any battery operated flashing body jewelry? Small flat holiday decorations are great clothing decorations as well. Be sure to
bring some extra to share and trade.

Your supplies: This includes your glues. Bring your hot glue gun, your basic adhesive glue and your super glue - just bring all of your glue, and Blondie will show you what works on what. Her personal favorites include aquarium 100% silicon glue, Elephant glue, Velcro glue, and a good super glue. The package will have a list of what items that super glue works best on. If it includes
GLASS, then you have a good super glue. You may want to look for super glue that uses a brush to apply it, as that is the easiest to work with. So is a gel, which is a must for any fabric applications. Also, bring your Buttoniere if you have one. Staplers and scissors and tape if you think you need them. Bring your own rag if you are working with anything messy, and are
anything like Blondie. She glued herself to her living room floor, TWICE !!!!

Food: Potluck as usual - or we'll order in Chinese! (Who wants to cook when there's bling to play with!) Bring a cup. Bring something for Kip to drink. Bring something for Blondie to drink. Bring something for Heidi to drink. Wait, er, fine. Bring something to put in your own cup (and in ours).

** Special Announcement ** Michael & Gwen of Michael's Light Toys have the coolest blinky sh!t in the world, and will be coming all the way from Walnut Creek to this pahrtay. They will be bringing much needed and beloved blinky baubles for your costuming at reasonable Burner prices! (Cash preferred, but local checks ok if we know you) Since when does the best blinky sh!t (light bling-bling) come to you?!? Since Now! Yayyy!!!!! Bring light bling.

Still need more bling? We'll convoy to bling-central for other types of bling (the bling-without-lights store). This is where to get beaded trims, bells, sequins, glues, etc. Bring your credit cards or cash, as they may not understand that gifting economy of ours......

Located in Redwood City, near Woodside road, but rsvp for precise directions. RSVP to zgarden72 at hotmail.com or click on Kip over in Iron Rose members and send her a message ---->
