See you there!!

--Speakin' of all things fabric related do any of you know where I could get a quantity of that carpet underlayment stuff, the coarse-woven Jutte? I've looked about everywhere but have been unable to lay my hads on the stuff. I've seen it used on the playa as a see-thru substrate for attaching EL wire. The bottom photo on this page shows the stuff in a really nicely done application: www.nmpproducts.com/artcar.htm

Hmm, ya got me stumped. Only substitute i could think of is the generic mesh mat you lay down to keep rugs from slipping. Probably would want to paint it though, it isn't as fine as what's shown in your pic.

I have some extra window screen material you could try, just sew or glue the wire on....? I have a metal (aluminum?) kind and some polymer/plastic based stuff.

I wonder if you could even cut away some of the excess material so it's even more see-through. Depends on your design as to how that one would work though...

--Thanx for ideas, but I was hoping to find something nonmetallic, due to the nature of the environment and the electronics that're going to be attached.
--I spent a pile of time googling away the last few days and found out a few things about this elusive "fabric". Turns out it has two variations that are used in theatrical sets, one with copper wire embedded within the fiber to make something that's both (relatively) transparent and that can be formed to a shape it will hold. This stuff is called "woven wire" and I found it here: www.del-lighting.com/woven_wire.html
...might be handy for other applications?
--The other more common variety is available from a couple of places and the proper name for it is "Onionbag Scrim"; i.e. something I wouldn't have guessed in a million years! Here's one source for it:
