Re: Man burns in 332 days
Wed, October 4, 2006 - 2:35 PMWell, what got me thinking along those lines was the fact that the theme has already been announced.
See, in past years I have heard complaints from people (not our people, just other burners in general) because by the time the theme is announced, you have some time to think about it and decide on something "themey" for the event, there isn't much time left to build it. This year we have several more months to consider what if anything we might want to do and build it.
So ... Heidi mentioned she wants to do a makeover of Sue with the idea of her being a giant moth being drawn to a flame being one idea (and a neat one). This would be a good time to brainstorm without having to actually cut metal yet.

Re: Man burns in 332 days
Thu, October 5, 2006 - 9:48 AMAhem. I'll be cutting metal this Friday and Saturday. Burn barrels for the Halloween Party (and myself), flashing for the bathhouse roof. etc. It's ALWAYS metal-cuttin' time! (grins)
Have y'all seen this?
www.glowfur.com
It's EL wire under white fur.
I'm thinking a glowy-white moth at night, with flaming antennae and another biggish flame out front. Maybe white (glowy) fur for the front 'head' and white shade cloth for the body... bent-conduit ribs that hang from the roof, supported by the 'wings' we added this year so we can see out, but folks can't see in so well... Hmmmmnnnnn....
Hey, is anyone going to the Decom pre-party at the End Up Saturday night? I've been toying with the idea of going and getting some groove on... -

Re: Man burns in 332 days
Thu, October 5, 2006 - 3:07 PMDepends if I am helping setup Spike's. If I'm helping set up, it's going to be an EARLY morning and I'll be saving my energy to party the day away. If not, I might just see you at the End Up missy!

Re: Man burns in 332 days
Thu, October 5, 2006 - 3:18 PMDANG Heidi, early morning End Up action is not for the timid, I'm impressed!!! What happenned to you this Burning Man, you've taken to the underground dance seen like a moth to a flouresent light...Ariella and I are going to save our strength for sunday, but you go girl!!! Let us know how it went (I'm sure its going to be killer, that place is dangerously fun) -

Re: Man burns in 332 days
Thu, October 5, 2006 - 9:13 PMWAAAAaaaahhhh.....
I don't want to dance aloooooone!! Alone is less fun!
I've got to be at 'work' at Decom at 8am to work Gate until 3pm, so yeah, maybe I *shouldn't* be out all night dancing.
But geez... It's supposed to be a burner-infested gig, too. Probably better music than at Decom (or maybe not... but still...)
I'll bring truck.
We can drive to Decom and crash in the back of truck, get a few hours sleep before 8am so we're not TOTALLY wasted.
Still no sign of a popup, which means no Iron Rose crash-site in the park. Not yet, anyway. Keep looking! I might need a place to crash come afternoon!
